Towers of Ghent

Belgian LEGO Certified Professional Dirk Denoyelle:

“Sometime early spring I got an e-mail from Nico Boone from LEGO Belgium. If I would be interested in driving to Ghent for a meeting with some people that were starting up a new museum.”

That museum was inaugurated on Friday October 8th 2010. It is called “STA.M” and evoques both historical, contemporary and – why not – future Ghent. The site is historical, the way the museum is conceived is highly modern and attractive. At the end of the tour visitors are invited to build their little piece of Ghent ... with the more than 200.000 white LEGO bricks they find at their disposal. And to inspire them to get started, LEGO Certified Professional Dirk Denoyelle and his team built the four best known towers of the city of Ghent: the St-Baafs Cathedral, the Belfry, The Saint-Nicholas Church and the Book Tower. It took Dirk and his crew 350 hours and about 170.000 bricks. And some sleepless nights, as gothic architecture is not the easiest to translate into LEGO. But all is well that ends well  !
